What we allow.
And what we never will.

Every supplier decision runs through this page. If a cut doesn't clear every line of it, it never reaches your box. Read it like a contract, because to us, it is one. And fair warning: once you know how most meat is made, you can't unknow it.

STD-01Named Ontario farmsEvery cut is traceable to a farm we know personally and can name. If we can't name it, we don't sell it.In force

The label decoder

What grocery labels are allowed to hide.

None of this is illegal. Most of it is just never explained. Tap a card to flip it.

Label says"Seasoned" chickenWhat it can mean
Decoded

"Seasoned" or "enhanced" can mean the meat was plumped: injected with salt water and additives that add weight. You pay meat prices for brine.

Northern Raised: never plumped. Ever.
Label says"Grass-fed" beefWhat it can mean
Decoded

"Grass-fed" can legally describe cattle that ate grass early, then finished on grain in a feedlot. The finish changes the fat, the flavour, and the life.

Ours: grass-fed AND grass-finished.
Label says"Natural"What it can mean
Decoded

"Natural" has almost no enforced meaning on meat. It says nothing about pasture, antibiotics, hormones, or how the animal lived.

We publish the actual standard instead.
Label says"Antibiotic-free"What it can mean
Decoded

Often it only means residues cleared a withdrawal window before processing. The animal may still have been routinely medicated.

RWA: Raised Without Antibiotics, from day one.
Label says"Product of Canada"What it can mean
Decoded

Origin labels can describe where meat was processed or packed, not which farm raised it. The farm stays anonymous.

We name the farm. Every time.
Label saysFine-print preservativesWhat it can mean
Decoded

Extended shelf life often comes from preservatives and treatments listed in small type. Freshness by chemistry, not by speed.

No preservatives. Fresh comes from fast.
Asked constantly, answered plainly

The questions everyone asks.

Q · Ontario winters

It snows here. How is beef grass-fed and finished?

Grass doesn't stop being grass when it's preserved.

In the growing season, cattle graze pasture. For winter, our farmers harvest and preserve that same forage as silage and hay, cut grasses and legumes kept at full nutrition. The diet stays 100% forage, non-GMO, healthy, and species-specific: what cattle are built to eat, every month of the year. Grain never enters the picture. That's what grass-fed and finished means in Ontario, honestly answered.

Q · Lab-grown meat

Will you ever sell lab-grown meat?

No. Not ever.

We believe meat comes from animals raised well on real land by real farmers. Cultivated cells grown in a bioreactor might be many things, but they are not what we do, and they never will be. Our answer to the future of food is better farming, not no farming.

Q · mRNA vaccines

Did the animals get mRNA vaccines?

No. Never.

Our partner farms don't use mRNA vaccines, and animals are typically not vaccinated at all, or only as minimally as responsible care allows. Herd health comes from pasture, space, and good husbandry. If an animal gets sick, it's removed from the herd and cared for individually. Prevention lives in how the animals are raised, not in routine injections.

The honest math

Cheap meat isn't cheap. It's subsidized by shortcuts.

The shortcutPlumping & water weightInjected brine pads the scale. Price per kilogram looks lower because some of the kilogram is water.
Our way100% meat by weightNever plumped. The price on our tag is the price of actual food.
The shortcutFeedlot finishingGrain finishing is faster and cheaper. Speed is the whole point, and the flavour pays for it.
Our wayPasture, start to finishGrass-fed and finished takes longer. Time on pasture is exactly what you taste.

Ask us anything

Questions we'll always answer.

Q-01Where does my meat actually come from?

A named Ontario family farm. Every product page and every box traces back to a farm we work with directly.

Q-02What is plumping, and do you do it?

Plumping injects chicken with salt water and additives to add weight. It's legal when declared and very common. We never do it. Our chicken is certified organic and sold at its true weight.

Q-03How does it ship?

Cut fresh to order, vacuum-sealed, and shipped cold-secured with ice packs and dry ice. The packaging is built for cold-chain transit to your door.

Q-04What if something isn't right?

The Raised Right Guarantee. If anything arrives less than perfect, tell us and a real person will make it right.
