The story
Canadian bison raised on open prairie, naturally and humanely, with no hormones or antibiotics since 1997
Rocco Verelli founded Northfork Bison in 1997, driven by a passion for these animals that started on his father's farm south of Montreal. Since then, Northfork has been providing a healthier, more humane, and sustainable alternative to beef — and they are not a middleman. They are involved in every aspect of the business, from raising the animals to processing and distribution.
Northfork's bison graze on enormous tracts of land in Manitoba, where they roam as bison are meant to. They do not live in barns. In winter, they dig through snow to find grass, supplemented with hay. All products are slow-aged and air-chilled, with no artificial growth stimulants and no unnatural production practices.
Bison is leaner than beef, higher in protein, and naturally rich in flavour — not because of what's added, but because of how the animal lives.
