The story
Heritage breed pork raised on 100 acres of Ontario farmland by a certified swine specialist since 1979
Fred and Ingrid de Martines moved to Canada from the Netherlands and started Perth Pork Products in 1979. Fred is a certified swine specialist who brought European training and experience with him, and when he arrived, he wasn't satisfied with what he found — so he started his own breeding program from scratch.
The operation sits on 100 acres near Sebringville, Ontario, and raises rare and heritage breed pigs — Berkshire, Tamworth, and Iron Age — breeds chosen for flavour and quality rather than commercial yield. The heritage breeds live in open shelters with plenty of grazing space. They grow slowly, on their own terms, which is exactly why the pork tastes the way it does.
This isn't commodity pork. It's the product of a family that chose the harder path because they knew it produced something worth eating.
