The story
Rowe Farms is a family-run Ontario meat company based in Guelph, raising and sourcing beef, pork, chicken, lamb and turkey from their own pasture and local Ontario farms since 1972. Animals are raised without antibiotics or added hormones, and each partner farm is inspected and audited annually.
Rowe Farms began in 1972 when John Rowe started raising grass-fed cattle on his farm in Guelph, Ontario. His belief that what is best for the environment is also best for us became the foundation of the company, and it still guides how they farm today.
Rowe Farms raises animals on their own pasture and works with a network of local Ontario farmers who share their standards. Beef, pork, chicken, lamb and turkey are raised in low-stress environments with open access to food and water, on strictly vegetarian diets, and never with growth-promoting hormones or sub-therapeutic antibiotics. If an animal ever needs antibiotic treatment, it is removed from the program and never sold under the Rowe Farms name.
Unlike most meat, which changes hands many times before reaching you, Rowe Farms keeps the whole chain in one family’s hands: raised on their land and partner farms, then harvested and cut by Rowe Farms themselves. Every partner farm receives four Rowe Farms inspections a year, an annual internal audit, an annual third-party audit and a CFIA review, and products carry the True Foods Trustmark, verifying that what’s on the label matches what’s in the package.
